“If that’s movin’ up then I’m movin’…” (Movin’ Out)

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

It started Monday at nap time. Evan did NOT want to be in his crib. Everthing was fine Monday night and Tuesday during the day, but on Tuesday night after our normal night time routine, it was time to put Evan and Sophie in their cribs and say good night! Well clearly Evan had something on his mind! This is the kid who is, and always has been a great sleeper. He has always been very happy to get in his crib, close his eyes, and sleep for at least 10 hours.  So last night, despite his protests, we left them in their cribs, went up stairs and listened on the monitor to what we thought would be a few minutes of protest.  About 10 minutes later – Evan comes walking in the living room! We took him back downstairs and asked  him what was wrong.  “No Bed”  he said.  So we said “Why?” Evan said – “More sit down” and walked over and grabbed the basket of books and brought it over to us. So we read another couple of books and then tried again. (this time we closed the bedroom door) 30 minutes later we went to check on him and he was playing happily on the floor of his room in the dark.   Long story short, we got a small mattress we had, put in on the floor with his blankets and animals – and we went right to sleep – and slept all night!

We asked Evan where he slept last night and he pointed to his new "bed".

Then he demonstrated to us how he slept last night by laying down and pretending to sleep.

Before leaving his room to go upstairs to get breakfast - he arranged his teddy bears on his bed.
