“A son! A son! A son!” (The Who’s Tommy)

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Angela arrived in San Francisco last Thursday afternoon. On Friday we had our first appointment with Jon. Jon took a few measurements but could not determine boy or girl. Everything looked fine, and the measurements gave us a new due date of Nov 2. This moved our time table up about a week, but with our babies , we never know when they will decided to show up!  Today we had a complete ultrasound exam at CPMC, got pictures, and found out that we are having another little boy! We are very excited! We didn’t really care girl or boy, but knowing just makes it that much more real. We can now talk about names with certainty, get rid of all little girl clothes that Sophie has outgrown, and sort of just ‘plan’ our future and what it will be like having a 8  year old boy, 7 year old girl, and 6 year old boy some day!  We know now that Sophie will have her own room some day and the boys will share. Little things like that may seem small and trivial – but its something we think about.  So we are at about 31 weeks right now, and our goal is to make it to at least 35 weeks. We really would rather not have to have this baby tube fed – and 35 weeks is generally when they get the sucking reflex.

The pictures below are from today’s ultrasound. In real life you can make out some eyes, face, nose, and in one of them the boy parts. I guess it takes a trained eye – but here they are anyway!
