About our Family

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

We are David and JP from San Francisco, Ca. David is originally from CT, and JP from San Diego. We are a gay married couple that have been together since 1996. We first tried to have children through surrogacy in 2005 and 2006. Two failed embryo transfers later, we turned to open adoption in early 2007 as the way that we wanted to build our family. In March of  2007 we were chosen by our birth mother, Angela, as the couple that she wanted to raise her baby.  Three months later on June 13th, “Evan” arrived into our lives. Life is never predictable or boring, and a short 8 months later, Angela called to let us know she was expecting again, and was hoping we would take Evan’s little brother or sister. The decision was easy and we began making preparations for another little one to arrive at the end of June.  This baby decided that she didn’t want to wait that long, and though she gave us quite a scare, “Sophie Claire” arrived 8 weeks early on April 30, 2008 – only 10 months younger than her big brother. Thus, our set of “Irish Twins” was complete! In early May of 2009, Angela called again to say that another baby was due sometime in the fall! We were excited and nervous all at once, but after adjusting to the idea of 3 little ones, we soon began to anxiously await the arrival of number three! “Maxwell David” arrived on October 20, 2009  – all 8 1/2 lbs of him – our biggest baby yet!

We decided to share our lives on this blog so that families and friends can watch Evan, Sophie and Max as they grow up. Though our family with two dad’s might seem just a little different, in the end, it is just like any other – filled with love, laughter, challenges, and fun.
