It was an amazing day with family. JP and I are so proud to be the legal parents of two wonderful kids, and so thankful to our families for helping us and supporting us through every stage of our lives. 

We were at the courthouse at 8:30 AM.

The actual hearing takes only a couple of minutes

The judge that does all adoptions in SF is wonderful, and presided over both Evan’s and Sophie’s day in court.

Filing the paper work took a little longer while family waited.

"I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm" - state fair

Everyone went to the playground at Yerba Buena after, adults drank our morning coffee while the kids played. Highlight at the playground was Evan going down the slide with his cousins.

To officially celebrate the day, the family went to a long, fantastic lunch at the new restaurant on the bay “La Mar”.

Evan got to try octopus – but clearly wasn’t impressed.

There was hay maze at the pumpkin patch. Evan stood in front of it for 15 minutes watching the older kids go in and out, but never actually dared to go in by himself.

It was a very special day for many reasons. The vote on Prop 8 is just days away, ceremony was performed at Congresswomen Jackie Speirs’ house, and by Jackie herself, and the house was filled with so much love and respect for what was happening there.

Evan and Sophie got a visit from their mom on Oct 22- 23. It also happened to be a couple of days where JP had to be in Dallas! So it was a busy couple of days, but worked out well because Angela was around both nights to help feed, bath, and get to bed.

Its easy to see where both Evan and Sophie get their good looks, and in particular their beautiful eyes. One interesting note about Angela – she never takes a bad picture, and is always knows exactly where she wants to look as each picture is taken!

David took Friday afternoon and Monday off which allowed us to spend some great family time together. The weather is just about perfect this time of year in the Sierra Foothills. Also very interesting is that the Roses are starting to bloom again in October. I guess that is probably normal – but surprising to me.

Over the weekend, Evan had his first encounter with that time tested meal – Speghetti O’s! And sure enough – he loved them. We had to capture it on Camera – in which he also shows his improved spoon use ability.

Here is a picture of Sophie at lunch at Bocconato. I’ve been waiting for this picture so I could use another line from our favorite Musical. You’ll have to watch the movie to understand.
